RE: Summer Slip Lease & Insurance Certificate Request

Dear Summer Slip Holder:

Thank you for your continued interest in Lindsay Park Marina as your marina of choice. We are proud that this is the 134th consecutive year of Lindsay Park Marina excellence on the Mississippi. Your Summer Dockage Application & Agreement must be downloaded from the LPYC website and mailed back with your slip payment. If you are unable to download the contract, please contact Christy Ellenberg at 563-370-1013 to obtain a contract. Blank contracts will be also be available at the club. There will be no increase in slip fees for the 2020 boating season.

You are responsible to turn on and shut off the power to your slip if you so choose.  MidAmerican Energy can be contacted at 888-427-5632. The address is 902 Mound Street, Davenport, la. and you will need to know your slip number, which can be determined by looking at the slip layout on our Website: lpyc.org.

An alternate address that may be on record with MidAmerican Energy is 2101 East River Drive, Davenport, IA.

In addition to completing and returning the Agreement, we will need a certificate of Insurance coverage. This certificate can often be requested by phone from your insurance agent or by sending a copy of the Agreement to your agent. We are asking our slip holders to call their insurance agencies/companies and request that Lindsay Park Marina be named as a certificate holder which will provide the Marina with continuous notification of insurance. Please understand that we need the certificate on file before we  can allow the slip to be occupied and you i ncur the risk of having your slip reassigned.

As a reminder, the insurance requirements of Lindsay Park Marina are as follows:

INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: Lessee must insure his property at all times in a suitable amount and against all hazards and casualties and make Lessee's insurance Company aware of the terms and conditions of this lease. Lessee agrees to provide a certificate of insurance satisfactory to Lindsay Park Marina showing liability coverage in effect for a minimum amount of $300,000.00 during the lease term with endorsement naming Lindsay Park Marina as an additional insured.

December, 2019

Greeting LPYC members,

As we head towards the new year, your board wants to keep you up to date on the happenings in and around the club.

Annual membership dues will raise to $425 for 2020. This equates to $1.17 per day to enjoy your club throughout the year. Increasing costs of insurance premiums, food and supply costs were a few of the major factors in implementing the increase. The last dues increase was in 2015.

Slip contracts will be in the mail after the first of the year.  No slip movements will be made until after the February 15, 2020 slip payment due date.  If slip payment, along with proof of insurance and completed contract are not received by that date, slips will be deemed open and available for rent.  If you do not receive your contract by January 15, 2020, please contact the club at [email protected].

During the month of January, the club will be open on Fridays only, from 4pm to 9pm. The bar will be open, however the kitchen will be closed.

The pier gate locks have been changed for the safety of the marina. Pier Six gate is the only gate lock that has not been changed. Your gate key should work in that lock. If you need assistance getting into the marina, please contact the club.

Want to host a party at the club this winter?  Please call the club at 563-324-1317 or email Kayla at [email protected] to make arrangements.

If you are not receiving the weekly e-blast and would like to be added to that list, please email ma[email protected].

If you or someone you know is interested in running for one of the board positions that will become open next March, please contact Past Commodore Paul Lemen at 563-529-9972 by January 15, 2020. He is in charge of the Nominating Committee for the upcoming election.

Remember to check the website and/or the Facebook page for the latest events happening at the club this winter.

September 2018

Welcome to September and another month of our crazy Midwest weather.

The feedback we received from members asked at the Commodore’s Brunch indicated that the membership would utilize the restaurant during the winter months.  Beginning November 2, 2018 the restaurant will be open Friday through Sunday.  The winter hours will be posted on all doors.  Please support your club during this time.  The restaurant is available for parties over the winter months.  Please contact Tracie at the restaurant for more information or to schedule your event.

We will begin the process of removing old, unused cradles from the wall.  If you have an empty cradle that you want to keep on the wall, please contact either Mark Carroll or email [email protected].   We want to make room for any boats interested in winter wall storage, so we just need to tidy the place up!

Winterizing our boats is just around the corner.  If you need to order supplies, remember that you can order those through the ship store.

Here is our list of upcoming events:

August  2018

Welcome to the continued Dog Days of summer heat!

Your board is working hard compiling a schedule to keep the clubhouse and kitchen open this winter. From the information received at the Commodore’s Brunch, it appears that most of you will use the club this winter. We want to be open Thursday through Sunday, November through March. Our staff is planning events as you read this letter. You may also book the club for your private event during the winter. Do you have a fun event idea or want to see a specific event? Please share that with your board.

Do you want to move to another slip next year? Please just fill out the Slip Relocation form online. Slips are assigned by the Slip Committee. If you have a question about slips, just ask a slip committee member.

The LPYC Online clothing store is up and running. There is a link for ‘MERCHANDISE’ on the front page of the website.

August Events:

August 12 – New Member Meet & Greet. Lewis Knudsen will be
performing from 3pm to 6pm. We will be sharing detailed
plans for winter club hours as well as updates on
upcoming harbor improvements. We invite ALL
members to attend to hear important club and harbor
information.

August 25 – Rock Around the Docks Party. What better way to
meet your pier neighbors as well as those at the
other end of the harbor than through food and drink!
We encourage all boat owners to participate as well
as those social members wanting to walk the piers to
put a face from the club with a boat.

The September and October events will soon be on the website for you to view. Did you miss the Wine Tasting and Painting Party in July? We will be having more events like that, so please continue to check the website for an updated event schedule. Is there an event you’d like to see? Let your board know.

How many of you remember the Lighted Boat Parades? Your social committee would like to bring it back. It is currently scheduled for September 22, 2018. The party starts at 5 pm with the parade beginning at 8pm. Have some expertise with this event? We need your help! Want to participate? We will post a sign-up sheet in the ship store for those vessels wanting to participate.

FYI – The harbor staff may ask you for your member number in order to provide the member reduced fuel price. They ask that you please have your card handy in order to receive the lower price. Please remember that according to Iowa Law ALL PERSONS must remain off any watercraft while fueling. When you are asked to leave your vessel, it is for your safety as well as those aboard your vessel. Please contact a board member if you have questions about this law.

The latest Board Meeting minutes and financials as well as By-Laws and code of conduct are in a binder behind the bar for any member to view. Please ask a bartender if you would like to view those documents.

Please visit the Website and/or the Facebook page for updated information and coming events. We are no longer mailing the Newsletter unless specifically requested to do so.

See you at the club!

The Parrot Head Club will be having their membership drive party at the club again this year.  Their party is scheduled for Saturday, June 2nd.  Gates open at 5:30.  Cost for the event is $10 – but FREE for LPYC members.  Please remember to have your membership card available to show at the gate to get in free.

Attached you will find our LPYC Code of Conduct.  We ask that you take some time to read through this document.  If you have any questions regarding the Code of Conduct, please feel free to contact any board member.  Please remember that if you see something, to say something.  We can only improve our club if we are made aware of an issue.

Drink tokens are back!  Want to buy someone a drink but they aren’t ready or they are heading out the door?  You can purchase a drink token for them to save and redeem when they are ready.  There are three token purchase options.  Ask your servers for more information.

Your new board has been working in and around the club.  If you have a specific interest or desire to help out, just let one of the board members know.  We are always looking for members to join a committee or just help out around the club.  It’s a great way to meet new friends.

The correct procedure to enter the harbor is from downstream. This serves two purposes.  The first being that any vessel exiting the harbor can see incoming vessels approaching, existing vessel has the right of way.  When entering the harbor it is advised to pilot past the harbor thereby giving a clear view to any boat exiting the harbor and also, saving you from riding your own wake into the harbor.  It is advised to travel downriver near the Illinois side of the river, crossing after the end of the harbor and then slowly entering the harbor with a clear view of any traffic downriver of the entrance of the harbor.

The Commodore’s Brunch will be held Sunday, June 10th.  Festivities begin at 11 am.  Brunch will be served at 11:30.  Cost for this event is $25.00 and reservations are required.  Are you new to the club and don’t know what the Commodore’s Brunch is?  Ask a current member for details.  This annual event involves a raffle for member donated prizes.  There will be free mimosas, screwdrivers, bloody marys and a keg of beer – while they last.  This is a day to meet up with old friends, meet new friends and enjoy a party on the patio.

Huge SHOUT OUT to Chris & Rheta Foley for once again organizing their Foley Kentucky Derby Party.  A good time was had by all!    Thanks to Joan Clements and Sarah Gilhofer for filling our flower pots with beautiful flowers!  Thanks ladies.  Dave Cunningham and Louis Mayfield once again hosted the Kid’s Fishing Derby.  I’m not sure if the kids or adults had more fun!  Much appreciated guys.

We want LPYC to be the place where you want to be!

and your LPYC Board.
